Can anyone learn magic?
No.
Some magical practices can be studied, but the practitioner must still possess the power, bloodline, authority, or supernatural connection required to activate them.
A mortal may understand a rune without being capable of powering it.
Is magic inherited?
Often, but not always.
Bloodline influences what kinds of power a person can access and what supernatural effects their body can withstand. Training, transformation, curses, relics, and outside interference may alter how inherited abilities manifest.
Can magical abilities be taken away?
Some abilities can be blocked, suppressed, drained, or bound. Whether they can be permanently removed depends on the source of the power.
Suppressing an ability is not always the same as changing what the person fundamentally is.
Are relics the same as magical objects?
A relic is an object containing, preserving, conducting, or imprisoning supernatural power.
Each relic has its own origin and rules. Some must be activated. Others remain permanently active.
A relic may be connected to a specific person, bloodline, curse, covenant, or supernatural event.
Do names have power?
Some do.
A name may identify more than the form a person currently occupies.
True identities, former names, titles, and recognized relationships can carry supernatural authority—but merely knowing a name does not guarantee control over its owner.
Can magic bring someone back from the dead?
Death is more complicated for supernatural creatures than it is for mortals.
A body may heal. A soul may remain bound. A creature may change form. Something may return wearing the identity of what was lost.
That does not necessarily mean the dead have returned.
