A Beginner’s Guide to Amblem
As Told by Seth
Please imagine this entire explanation surrounded by cigarette smoke because that is apparently how this Glutton Demon copes when he is not physically touching his wife like a cursed German Shepherd.
Welcome to Amblem.
A place where the moons are named after witches, the suns pay homage to Norse ravens, Fallen Angels yearn, monsters have trauma, and love is usually cursed.
And somehow, I am your tour guide.
Which was a choice.
First thing you need to know:
There are three moons and two suns.
Hugyn is the only sun that provides light. It is only up for eight hours.
Munyn sucks.
Mors also sucks.
Droth is red.
And Velk gives Fen headaches.
That’s basically astronomy.
Next.
The Brotherhood is a religious cult hunting Malik and Rin.
Do not join them.
Even if they offer you food.
My mistake.
Moving on.
There are at least two rival factions of the Vampyr Mafia.
Giovanni “Red Sauce” Vescari is my wife’s sire and runs one.
Milford Cashmere was supposed to marry my wife.
That did not happen.
He runs the other.
I work for Milford.
Sort of.
Long story.
Read the book.
Then there’s The Council.
That is the government.
Technically.
They run everything at face value.
But really, there is this very large guy named Boon.
He is voted into power.
There is some confusion about what “voted” actually means.
Don’t worry about it.
Actually, worry a little.
There is also The Pit.
Which is different from Hell because Lucifer lives in Hell.
We do not go there.
I was there.
It’s hot.
Not in a fun way.
Then there is Heaven.
Which is different from Blue Sky, where my best friend is from.
Yes.
My best friend is a Fallen Angel.
I am a Glutton Demon.
It makes sense.
Or it doesn’t.
Doesn’t matter.
Malik is sad all the time and weirdly obsessed with this guy named Booker.
Then Malik gets kidnapped by Boon.
It becomes a whole thing.
Read the book.
Actually, forget what I said earlier.
The Council is scary.
Malik is scarier.
Anyway.
For twelve years, Mors and Munyn were stuck in the sky and basically destroyed everything.
Which is why most of the Commonwelth is dead sand.
The Fourth Kingdom was always a desert.
Ashfell used to have prairie lands.
Now?
Not so much.
There are ten factions:
The Hand — The Brotherhood lives there. Avoid.
Fractured Mountains — The name explains itself.
Ashfell — There is a cave there.
Shatteredlands — Exactly what it sounds like.
Acrux — Black market hub.
Ghost Glyphsic — Weird.
Dusty Rose — This place scarred me.
The Fourth Kingdom — Avoid the genie.
Cleansed Section — The Council headquarters and Milford’s home.
Ocean Peak — Radioactive oceans. Do not swim.
Good luck.
You’ll need it.
❤
