Why did I write a dark fantasy instead of something lighter?
The answer is simple: I wrote the story I had been looking for.
For years, I found myself returning to the same fantasy novels because I wanted epic worlds, impossible choices, morally complicated characters, and stories that stayed with me long after I closed the book.
As a Christian, I also wanted those stories without wondering if an unexpected explicit scene was waiting around the next chapter.
Eventually, I stopped looking and started writing.
That doesn’t mean Amblem is a Christian novel.
It isn’t.
Amblem is still dark fantasy. It contains demons, angels, violence, grief, morally gray characters, unhealthy devotion, sacrifice, and a vivid journey through Hell itself.
The stakes are high, the emotions are messy, and the characters rarely make the easy choice.
What you won’t find are explicit sexual scenes.
Instead, the emotional intensity comes from the relationships themselves—the loyalty, the longing, the betrayals, the impossible decisions, and the hope that survives even in the darkest places.
